In recognizing that promotion of employees' health is one of management issues, we have drawn up the "Denso Electronics Health Declaration" in order to maintain initiatives to promote health and are actively working to ensure our employees' health.
Denso Electronics Management Policy
1. Create a dependable corporation.
2. Workplace vitality and respect for individuality.
3. Environmental preservation and harmony with society.
The mental and physical health of each and every employee is the most important element of the foundation supporting a company's sustainable growth. It is only with a healthy working environment that we can achieve management policy goals such as creating a dependable corporation, providing a workplace where individuality is respected, and being in harmony with society.
In positioning health as a core aspect of management, this company is committed to increasing employees' awareness of health, promote physical and mental health, and create a pleasant working environment.
We consider this attitude to be a value that should be shared not only within the company, but with every individual involved with our company.

Masanori Tsuruta, President and CEO
Promoted System
We promote various health management initiatives, mainly through the Human Resources & General Admin. Div. Health Care Promotion Sect. and the Safety & Environment Department, with cooperation from the labor union.
The Health Care Promotion Sect. staff the Headquarters/Headquarters Factory and Okazaki Plant with full-time industrial physicians (who also serve as occupational health consultants), public health nurses, and registered nurses, in addition to health promotion staff whose work focuses on health management, including overall arrangements and coordinating each department's efforts at both locations.
In addition, we provide support to our subsidiaries both in Japan and overseas while receiving support from DENSO Corporation's Health Promotion Department and DENSO Health Insurance Society.
Support is provided not only to our domestic and overseas subsidiaries, but also extends to dispatch companies and other partner firms, with services including joint efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus infections and recommending participation in company influenza vaccination programs.
DENSO Health Insurance Society collaborates in implementing the specific health guidance. To prevent the onset and severity of lifestyle-related diseases, offset the burden of rising insurance copayment ratios, and reduce other future risks, we are working to improve uptake of specific health guidance, with employees getting advice on selecting providers and receiving financial assistance. In addition, the group works jointly on a variety of measures to support health management, for example by subsidizing expenses for events, non-statutory medical checkups, and influenza vaccinations, and furnishing scoring reports that include analyses of health checkup results and comparisons with affiliated group companies along with best practices.
At Denso Electronics, the president is committed to his role as a leader in promoting health management, and executives attend the company-wide meetings of the All-company Safety, Health, and Environment Committee, held twice annually to report on the current status of the health management promotion plan's KPIs and KGIs (final targets), progress and activities in promoting various health initiatives, and the results of external evaluations. They also discuss and approve program goals and targets for the following year, with personnel health management initiatives also being discussed and approved at management meetings.
The company and labor union members of the Safety and Health Committee engage in lively discussions and share information at each monthly meeting.
Health Management Issues
The administrative issues to be resolved in Denso Electronics' health management and the anticipated results and specific measures have been visualized in the form of a strategy map.
To realize the three core philosophies of the Denso Electronics Health Policy—"Increasing Awareness of Health," "Promoting Physical and Mental Health," and "Facilitating Work-Life Balance"—we have cast them in terms of the KGIs (Key Goal Indicators, or final objectives) "Achieving Denso Group Health Score Targets," "Improving Workplace Performance Survey Scores," and "Extending the Record Number of Hours Without Accidents," and then established specific initiatives to achieve these goals.
Initiatives to Improve Health Management Issues
In accordance with the "Denso Electronics Long-Term Policy 2025," we have instituted a comprehensive health promotion program with the aim of being a company where employees feel energized by their work, taking the approach of "creating a company with employees who can work with pride and vitality." With our annual management target of zero occupational diseases and a corporate culture that emphasizes the importance of health, we are carrying out a number of initiatives such as developing programs to maintain and enhance health, facilitating mental health and work-life balance, and preventing disease, as we focus on maintaining continuous certification as a White 500 "Excellent Health Management Company" (in the Large Enterprise category).
Administrative issues to be resolved through Denso Electronics' health management include improving employee performance and creating an environment where employees can work healthily and with vitality. In resolving these issues, we are currently implementing measures such as revising the return-to-work support program, providing subsidies for the costs of complete medical checkups, strengthening measures to create a smoke-free environment, and preventing the spread of infectious diseases, all with the aim of reducing absenteeism and presenteeism (working while sick) and enhancing work engagement. The results of these initiatives and reforms in the corporate culture throughout the company are reflected in the results of employee opinion surveys (motivation surveys), which have shown improvements in employee satisfaction since the survey began in fiscal 2016.
1. Programs to Maintain and Enhance Health
To maintain employee health and prevent the onset and severity of lifestyle-related diseases, we have recently augmented measures to maintain employees' health, particular with our specific health guidance. In regard to nutrition, we are contributing to our employees' own health management by providing healthy menus and introducing menu labels that indicate calories, nutrients, vegetable content, and other nutrition information.
Our health-based activities are not limited to promoting physical activity, such as with health walks and strength development classes, but also by disseminating health information issued monthly by the Health Promotion Section and distributing videos on programs implemented by the DENSO Group overall.
2. Promotion of Mental Health and Work-Life Balance
Support for mental health includes measures to reduce presenteeism by enhancing our return-to-work support program and implementing a system to check on the condition of absent employees. We are also working to reduce absenteeism through early detection methods and other forms of self-care and line-care training.
In promoting work-life balance, labor and management have worked together to reduce overly long working hours and encourage employees to take paid leave. These efforts have been effective in raising employees' awareness, and results have begun to show.
We actively provide employees with support in balancing their work with childcare, elderly care, and medical treatment. In addition to expanding our childcare support system, we also provide subsidies for elderly care and childcare services through our cafeteria plan and subsidize medical expenses such as outpatient and hospitalization costs, regardless of whether they are covered by any health insurance, thereby creating an environment where our employees can continue working over the long term.
3. Disease Prevention
Steps to combat cancer include providing financial subsidies for company-run full medical checkups and conducting in-house women's cancer screenings. Anti-smoking measures are being implemented not only to end passive smoking, but also to prevent diseases such as lung cancer and respiratory diseases. Measures to prevent infectious diseases and heat stroke are also being implemented.
Performance Evaluations and Results of Initiatives
To understand whether or not health management is being effectively implemented, we evaluated work absenteeism and performance in presenteeism. Based on the results of these two evaluations, we aim to further enhance employee well-being with improvement programs conducted at our factories with the aim of reducing employees' burdens and improving productivity.
These initiatives have also undergone various external reviews, and as one outcome, Denso Electronics has been designated a "Health Management Excellent Corporation" (White 500).
Occupational Safety and Health
To ensure our business foundation, it is absolutely essential to improve safety and health management. Thus, we are working to achieve continuous improvements in safety and health based on the premise that creating safe and comfortable working conditions is the best way to realize both human dignity and high productivity. This policy is built upon the fundamental principles of safety, health, and the environment.
Compliance and Risk Management in Health Management
Legal compliance is absolutely crucial as a foundation of health management. Compliance with the Labor Standards Act, Industrial Safety and Health Act, and other related laws and regulations help ensure the safety and health of our employees. In addition, internal company initiatives enable us to identify and understand risks in health management and take preventive measures to foster awareness of health with the aim of further promoting employees' health and improving productivity.
